Bruce Horovitz wrote a USA Today article about the NEW trend in food manufacturing – fewer ingredients. The code word that we should be looking for on products is SIMPLE.

Natural Health experts tell their readers, customers and clients about the benefits of avoiding many ingredients by reading labels and cooking your own food. Author Michael Pollan’s message reached  main stream in his book, In Defense of Food: An Eaters Manifesto which explains why foods with five ingredients or less is healthier for you.

I learned this the hard way when my everyday illnesses became cumulative in March of 2007. I had to eat foods that I made myself. And I kept the ingredients real SIMPLE. Why go back to potato chips made with forty different ingredients when Lays was making them with only these ingredients: potato, salt and sunflower oil?

Every time you eat out, even when you eat prepacked convenience foods or processed foods, you are eating roughly100 ingredients that aren’t even necessary. You may have already heard about this example, McDonalds french fries contain dairy, wheat and soy. Disgusting!

Love yourself in 2010. Don’t let the foods that you don’t even know you are eating over power you like they did me.

Just eat simply. It’s simple!
